Rhodes: the largest migrant trafficking ring was dismantled by the National Intelligence Service and the Coast Guard

In the dismantling of the largest trafficking ring of illegal immigrants that has ever operated in Rhodes and one of the largest that has operated in the Dodecanese, the NIS proceeded in a joint operation with the Coast Guard on the island of Rhodes.

In an operation set up late Wednesday night into the early hours of Thursday morning, the men of the Coast Guard located the villa where the 44-year-old Syrian leader of the criminal organization was staying with his 16-year-old son and his deputy leader in the circuit, immobilized and arrested them, while they also located two hideouts where they hid the migrants in transit.

The investigation into their activities is in full swing. At the intelligence level, to dismantle the criminal organisation, the NIS cooperated with allied intelligence services of another country and at the operational level with the Coast Guard.
