<p>Over the past five years, an entirely avoidable and predictable policy-driven&nbsp;<a href="https://www.msf.org/greece-and-eu-must-change-approach-migration">humanitarian crisis has been unfolding in the Greek</a>&nbsp;islands of Lesvos, Samos, Chios, Leros, and Kos, with devasting consequences for the people trapped there. After fleeing their homes and&nbsp;<a href="https://www.msf.org/mediterranean-migration">surviving harrowing journeys to Europe</a>, the indefinite containment, limbo, and systematic violence in Greece further traumatises people seeking protection.</p>

<p>The Observatory of the Refugee and Migration Crisis&nbsp; in the Aegean presents a collection of articles from Greek (local and national) and international press and announcements from various political and social fora, in reference to:&nbsp; the increase of &nbsp;arrivals of refugees and migrants on the Aegean islands, and particularly Lesvos, the living conditions at Moria Reception and Identification Centre and the latest governmental announcements on the situation. &nbsp;</p>
