Shipwrecks

Another crime, following the Pylos shipwreck, has occurred this time off the coast of Chios, where the Hellenic Coast Guard (HCG) pursued a boat carrying refugees and collided with it.

A case that sheds light on the consequences of unlawful pushbacks and the serious failures to safeguard life at the Greek and European borders.

Throughout October, numerous deadly shipwrecks and violent maritime interceptions occurred near Lesvos and other Aegean islands. These incidents led to preventable deaths, people going missing, and survivors reaching the islands in a state of severe psychological distress.

Με διάταξη της Εισαγγελέως του Αναθεωρητικού Δικαστηρίου παραγγέλλεται η άσκηση ποινικής δίωξης κατά τεσσάρων ανώτερων στελεχών της ηγεσίας του Λιμενικού Σώματος συμπεριλαμβανομένου του νυν αρχηγού του, για τους οποίους η υπόθεση είχε τεθεί στο αρχείο από την Εισαγγελέα του Ναυτοδικείου Πειραιά, και οι επιζώντες είχαν ασκήσει προσφυγή κατά της αρχειοθέτησης.
