Dear Sir,

Thank you for your letter of 26October2021 and for sharing your concerns and recommendations on the situation of applicants and beneficiaries of international protection in Greece with regard to food provision.

Over the last few years, the European Commission has provided substantial financial support to Greece in order to improve migration management.

The co-signed organisations and civil society groups present in Samos wish to raise concerns about the restrictions implemented in the camp over the last two weeks, whereby camp residents who do not have a valid asylum applicant card have not been allowed to exit the camp.

Σε πρόσφατη (8/7/2021) επιστολή της προς τους εκπροσώπους πέντε οργανώσεων της κοινωνίας των πολιτών, η αρμόδια επίτροπος Εσωτερικών της Ευρωπαϊκής Επιτροπής, Ίλβα Γιόχανσον, δηλώνει ότι για αυτήν το ζήτημα των καταγγελιών για επαναπροωθήσεις είναι υψηλής προτεραιότητας. Ταυτόχρονα διαβεβαιώνει ότι η Επιτροπή παρακολουθεί στενά τις σχετικές αναφορές και εκθέσεις, κάνοντας μάλιστα και ρητή αναφορά στην πρόσφατη ενδιάμεση έκθεση του Συνηγόρου του Πολίτη, και επισημαίνει εκ νέου την ευθύνη της Ελληνικής κυβέρνησης να διεξάγει μια ενδελεχή και διαφανή έρευνα για τις καταγγελίες.
