The Alternative Atlas of Lesvos

There are many layers that make Lesvos so special and which hold potential: a rich cultural history, natural assets and a compassionate people.

An Island for the World is an attempt to catalogue these layers to create an alternative atlas that may be used to promote the island, generate new connections and catalyse new opportunities both locally and internationally. Together, we are creating a community-led master plan, an atlas of  assets, initiatives, convenors and connectors, stories and hopes.

Why is this project necessary?

Globally, we are living in a time of immense turbulence, challenge and opportunity. From creating livelihoods for those without one, to the isolation and depression that impacts so many of us at some point in life, to getting to grips with the world’s biggest humanitarian crisis.

However, there is great potential for collaboration based on common goals, opening up a multitude of opportunities.

The Alternative Atlas is the first step.
