Arrest of a trafficker after a chase in Mavra Volia
Tuesday afternoon, 13/8/24, and the Port Authority of Chios was informed that a speedboat (T/X) was moving towards the east coast of the island.
A patrol boat of the L.S.-EL.AKT. went to the area, where it spotted the T/X boat landing refugees-migrants at the most famous beach of the island, at "Mavra Volia" in Emporeios and then trying to escape to Turkey.
A pursuit of the speedboat by the patrol boat of the L.S.-EL.AK. followed, which led to its immobilization and the arrest of the 44-year-old foreign pilot who was transferred to the port of Chios.
From the Central Port Authority of Chios arrested the 44-year-old for violation of the law on:
"Trafficking of illegal immigrants in the Greek territory lacking legal travel documents" and this for "Illegal entry into the Greek territory".
The press release of the Coast Guard - Greek Coast Guard, does not mention what was the "sufficient number" of refugees - migrants who were on board the speedboat and left them in the sea area "black marbles" the trafficker.
