Afghan migrants in Greece ‘beaten up and thrown into sea’

The masked sailor on the Greek coastguard vessel tossed a rubber raft into the Aegean Sea and turned to the migrants on board.

“Get the f*** out of here, you don’t belong here,” he shouted at the group and then grabbed one, Khalid Nazari, an Afghan, by the shoulder and threw him overboard.

Then the man turned to the 17 other refugees on board, which included Khalid’s wife, his seven-year-old daughter and ten-year-old son and with the help of some of the crew, hurled them towards the inflatable dinghy.

The group were left adrift, bobbing in the sea between Greece and Turkey without life jackets or an engine, according to survivors.
